Life Would Be Different if I Was a Librarian

When I was younger, I had a long list of careers I wanted to pursue and never was able to narrow them down. I really stumbled into this career by chance, but I'm very happy I did. But, there are days when my job gets to me and I've had enough. And unfortunately I've been having those days pretty consistently over the past couple weeks. I'm working on a project that no one likes, including the client. During one of those moments last week, I thought, "Life would be different if I was a librarian."

It's true. Life would be different if I was a librarian. I would get stressed out when books weren't shelved correctly, or stacks of books still needed to be put away at the end of the day. Library patrons would also be referred to as customers and clients, but they couldn't call my boss to complain about lack of resources. I wouldn't have to work with 12 other people to complete projects. The biggest project I would have would be story time with the kids. My research talents would be used to find missing books, books based on a few key words and terms, or books needed at different branches. I'd bring books home daily, because they'd catch my eye and I'd want to discover more about them. I wouldn't have to worry about fines, though, since I worked for the library. So much simpler.

Life would be different if I was a librarian. Simpler, easier, less stressful, and more enjoyable. Ahhh, to dream.
