I leave for a much needed vacation today. Vacation time is much anticipated and very sacred in our family. It's our excuse to sleep the day away, eat as much or as little as we want, stay out until the wee hours of the morning, and watch lots of movies.
My mom would spend months planning for vacation, so that when we were actually there, she'd have very little work to do. Meals would be planned for each day, dozens of cookies would be made, non-perishable items would be bought in bulk, and plans would be made for the transportation of perishable items like milk. She'd scour the paper looking for sales on meat, pop, styrofoam plates, and pop tarts. We still can't find her packing list, and had to ask our neighbors for one. They gave us 4. That should suffice.
Prepping for vacation is a bit different for me. I need to find a good number of books to read, make sure my iPod has a good selection of music, verify I have my camera, spare battery, and charger, and I'm set. Clothes, toiletries, homework all need to come as well, but my books, music, and camera are more important. Right now I'm going through iTunes finding songs to add to a playlist I'll listen to on the drive up. It's almost a 2-hour drive, and I don't want to keep scrolling through artists. This is easier.
Part of my vacation preparation involved doing homework this past week. I'm glad that I got as much done as I did. The hard part will be keeping it up while I'm on vacation. The last thing I'll want to do is review accounting equations and figure out the cost of keeping a sales rep around. I'd much rather enjoy the great weather.
