Journal or blog?

I have a dilemma. I would like to write in both my old-fashioned private journal and my blog, but I really don't have time--especially when school is in session. How do people balance the two? When I write in my blog, I don't feel like writing in my journal. When I write in my journal, I don't feel like writing in my blog. To top it off, I'm often inclined to work on my novel or stories and ignore everything else. That's why my blog has been dormant for so long. One strategy would be to keep my blog posts very short--just updates for friends. The more I think about it, the more that strategy seems best. I suspect it's what blogs were meant for in the first place. Duh...

In other news, my novel has reached almost 100 single-spaced pages and 60000 words. And the story has really just started. I have the plot outlined, so I know exactly what needs to happen. I definitely know how it will end. But I have a lot of writing to do. I'm OK with that because it's been a lot of fun. Besides, there are plenty of very long books out there...right? I would rather not have to tailor my novel to fit a certain predefined length. I don't know if anyone will publish it, anyway--or if so, who. So for now I'm just going to say what I want to say.
