I leave for class in England TOMORROW. (For those of you I haven't told, my class is on Chaucer's Canterbury Tales). I'm so excited. I've been looking forward to this for months! I've never been outside of the country before, so it's going to be a great experience for me.
All my trip preparations will be well worth it. But I never realized just how much effort has to go into planning a trip. I keep remembering little things that I've forgotten to do. All alone, they're not a big deal. When you put them all together, they're kind of overwhelming.
For example, on Monday I realized that I hadn't ordered my books for class. I'm used to buying them at the campus bookstore the day before class, but that's not an option this time. I ordered them on Amazon and had to pay extra for fast shipping. : ( Right now I'm looking at my flight details and need to print some stuff out. I fly from Colorado Springs to Dallas, then from Dallas straight to London Heathrow... My head is swimming with all these details.
Yesterday I bought insurance for my laptop and camera. That's one thing that has put my mind greatly at ease. I have a Mac laptop that was rather expensive. I don't have another two thousand to plunk down in case it gets stolen, which I've heard is a fairly strong possibility. I would also be devastated if someone took my camera. So for $67, I got a policy that will cover both my laptop and camera in the event that this happens. I think insurance is a beautiful thing.
Well, I have to get packing now. I need to do my best to pack light. Wish me luck...
P.S. Ha! My mom just came out into my room to give me a little talk. "Brenna, I don't want to scare you, but I was reading this article about surviving disasters. It said that the people who survive plane crashes are the ones who take the time to read the safety info on the seats..." Thanks, Mom.
