The Yuletideload: addendum
Dwah!! Forgot one, and a good one: one of my very favourite legends, as filtered through one of the most fun series I've read in quite some time:
Two, Side by Side: (Temeraire) This is the story of Hua MuLan and Lung Hong Dao, who fought in her father's stead for the glory of the Son of Heaven. Dragons! In with Chinese myth! Now all(!) someone needs to do is tell the story of Journey to the West as it exists in Temeraire's world, and I'll be completely content.
