Political Update: Rush Limbaugh's Lame Apology

Mar 03, 2012 23:33

Rush Limbaugh has posted what he calls an "apology" on his website for his vile, callous, and uncivilized remarks about Sandra Fluke, Georgetown University Law Student who testified to Congress about a friend's problems getting insurance for contraceptives for a hormonal problem. Limbaugh has always been foul, and it's always been disturbing that anyone would give him five minutes of air time and attention--but this has been stunning in the depths he's reached.

This debacle has been helpful, though, in exposing the Republican platform. It's puzzling that the GOP has so lost contact with anything remotely resembling politics and economics--and anything rational....The party seems consumed with the idea of disciplining women: anyone who speaks for the Republicans comes across as a sexually frustated old man looking to find some way of wreaking revenge on young women for being beyond their reach or abilities.

Limbaugh's limp, flaccid apology only underscores it: he certainly couldn't manage to be as passionate and forceful about his allegedly regret as he was enthusiastic about his sexual fantasies about Fluke, including his wish to watch her in a sex tape.

He's pervert, period. And the poster boy for misogyny.

Limp & flaccid are the operative words here for Viagra Boy. I note that it's fine for his pills to be paid for by the gummint, but not women's birth control pills ( ... )

Santorum's just gone off again, about Female Single Parent Families Ruining Everything--somehow, unspecified, the government has to stop female-headed, single parent families....Them wimmin needs menfolks. Santorum failed to explain how the government (ie, he) would supply the XYs.

Hello, Republicans? Hello? *knock, knock* Is this on?

Alternative energy? Rebuilding infrastructure? Controlling outsourcing? International relations? National security?

Any of those ring a bell? No? Okay--let's get back to beating up on women by denying them rights; apparently that's the winning strategy and the most important issue in the campaign.

I've been out of town all day, so I've missed Santorum's latest woman-hating rant. Unbelievable! He is clearly out of the loop with Rush's problems and loss of advertisers or he would realize this strategy is made of FAIL. Someone needs to explain it to him in terms a small boy can understand because Super Tuesday is looming ( ... )

It couldn't possibly be more obvious now: the obsession is with the idea that women have sex--and aren't punished for it. These guys really are airing their personal hangups in public, and there's no missing that they see women as either good girls or bad girls--actually, that they are quite sure all women are bad girls.

And when is the last time we have heard this kind of language? In high school during the 1970s! These guys are poster children for arrested development.

More advertisers are pulling out: AOL and Tax Resolution

Limbaugh Loses 9th Advertiser

BIG ONE ~ AOL Drops Advertising on Rush Limbaugh Show
At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity. We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show.

And there's a movement afoot to get Limbaugh banned from Armed Forces Radio. There's a petition and addresses for Leon Panetta:

Flush Rush from Armed Forces Radio

No women serving overseas ought to be called sluts and prostitutes for using birth control. Doesn't the Army lecture the troops - male and female - on using Birth Control? Oy Vey!
