The internet is still buzzing about the sweet letter Alan Rickman wrote for Empire Magazine, a thank-you to J. K. Rowling and a nod to the child-actors in the series and his fans, of course.

Severus Snape: Is the foul-tempered professor really Voldemort's lackey? And does he really hate Harry? And can we all agree that Alan Rickman's performance as Snape has been one of the best things about the series? "We were all terrified of him for the longest time," Radcliffe says of Rickman, "but he's the kindest man you'll ever meet. What he's done for me as a person and an actor is remarkable."
~ Dan Radcliffe in Entertainment Weekly (print)
In a move more befitting Albus Dumbledore than the guy who killed him, Empire magazine recently published Alan Rickman's heartfelt goodbye letter to J.K. Rowling and the family of actors who knew him best as Severus Snape....Who knew that the man behind Snape and Hans Gruber had such a soft spot? Like every other muggle who's read the books and watched the movies, we can't help but feel bittersweet about the final entry in such a wonderful series that's captivated us from beginning to end, but, boy, are we excited to see Snape finally get the screen time he deserves.

Moviefone Blog Ian McKellan was nominated for his role as supporting actor in LorR RotK--hence, if the buzz on Rickman's performance in the final Potter movie is accurate (based on comments online from prelim. showing, see Leaky Cauldron for details), I would think something terribly amiss in Hollywood if he did not receive a nod for the role. Incredible!

Spinoff Mr. Rickman brought a marvelous character to life. I will miss the excitement I have always felt when going to each and every movie, after #2 this coming July. Oh how I mourned for Dumbledore when he went off that tower! But Snape , oh Snape, you were redeemed in my eyes. with that beautiful doe patronus. You are a hero and we know why Dumbledore trusted you to do that "evil deed " on the tower. Of all the wands I could have chosen at HP universal...it was yours I chose. Thanks... Mr. Rickman YOU did a great job!
