I did yoga and upper body after work on Wednesday as planned. I didn’t get as much done as I would have preferred, unfortunately, as I was unexpectedly exhausted, but I did get up early enough to do yoga again (25.27) and there was some reading, tango and keytar practice. I did a great job with food and avoiding TV and internet use, at least. I’ve since slipped just a bit in each but I’m doing better than before. I need to keep up the discipline.
Tango was wonderful last light. I practiced the sacada and ‘cambio de frentes’ in the first part of the class and we did barridas - weird sweeply leg moves - in the second class. I felt great about both classes, though, which is good for a change. I truly do think I am finally breaking in. They know I am taking off work on 12/19/15 to practice, so there is tangible hope.
I still love the sanguchito the most and practiced that quite a bit last night as well. I love that I finally have such a sensual move down to add to my repertoire. It almost feels dirty getting near-strangers to do it to me… ahhh, tango.
Met:
George- A new dancer, another leader. A bit spunky and too eager to correct the instructors, but he has good energy and attitude.
Ilsa- Very polite. Older, stocky lady. Takes too much responsibility for mistakes that happen, but that is what we are supposed to do. She is a bit hard to maneuver but overall pleasant to dance with.
Eva- Very young, a teenager I think. Pretty, braces. Responds well but cannot communicate effectively what she is feeling to make one move or another. Still, somewhat refreshing compared to some responders who will actively critique me.
I also forgot to include that met another leader, Apuru , at the previous milonga. Nice young guy, indian. He is very dedicated, skilled and rarely every misses classes.
After class I went to The Depot, where a couple bands, White Shadow and Retrogramme, were playing. I had a good time chatting with people and had a long conversation with Ada and Roy as well as a surprisingly open talk with Neska. Roy did guest vocals for Retrogramme. The sound was off during the show but I did like the core of their music so I went ahead and downloaded it from the iTunes store.
