Yes I've been watching, and yes I suck at updating, and yes I really am paying for a paid account despite not really using it. Hell, LJ could use to money, so w/e.
Oh and since I have lots of little things to say, expect like one or two sentence thoughts under these spoiler cuts.
Friday Night Lights 3.03
Like Mad Men, I often find this show brilliant, but since the episodes are consistent, I never really talk much about it. But when I watched this episode, the emotional impact was far greater on me than any other episode. From Matt's heartbreaking last-second fumble, to Smash's mom's heartfelt speech about being his mother and sending him to school, I was near tears. And I wanted to hug Matt Saracen. Poor kid, having to defend his status as QB against a puny little Freshman with creepy parents.
Honestly, I never thought I could love a TV show about high school football and cheerleaders, but here I am. It's a great show and I'm loving this season, which is kind of a return to season one awesomeness!
Battlestar Galactica 4.15
What a badass episode! You know, Lee in his monkey suit was getting kind of boring. Now Kara dragging Lee on a renegade defense mission? FRAK YES! Oh her "let me kiss you to get your head in the game" was pure Kara Thrace. Kara explained it best, it was the most alive we've seen her since she returned from the dead.
But it was nice to see Baltar bing a little wormy again. Like Roslin, I don't buy his conversion one bit. I mean, one "miracle" and he's all religious? And a cult? I was just glad to see him looking out for his own self-interests again. That's my Baltar! Now if only we can have him be all duplicitous again. At the very least, the short hair is a great start.
You know, for an episode that was really light on mythology, it totally compensated for it with action. Normally when elements of a program go missing in a episode, it's often part of the reason the episode sucked. But not this time, no I'm glad they kept it down. This revolution, however long it lasts, is going to lead to some messed up shit. I'm going with Gaeta getting a major smackdown in the end.
I still have some thoughts about 30 Rock, The Office, Lost, and Fringe, but I wanted to get these episodes out first, since they air in like 2 hours and who knows how long a post like that could take.
