If I had one word to describe this episode, it would be "confusion." But it's not the same confusion that I get from Lost, which is "they're not telling us everything, why is there a monster?" This confusion is "let's just reveal major things in normal conversation so viewers feel like they're missing the story... wait wha?" Confused? So am I. Who's the exploding man? Peter? Sylar? Ted? All 3? Sure we saw the future, but I'm not even so sure what parts of that will actually happen. So Nathan's Mom is in with Linderman? She's OK with all of NY going up? So is she going to get the hell out of dodge? Will Sylar become Nathan by the end of the season? Everyone's in NY, so I guess they're all fair game. He could easily off Candice then hit up Nathan. Why is Micah there? I read that he was there to rig the election for Nathan, which sorta makes sense. Wait, if Mother Petrelli is working with Linderman, then was she rogue when she was hiding Claire? Or is that part of Linderman's big plot as well. Wait, now I'm back to being confused about time travel. Actually, now I'm confused about what I'm confused about. I think I need to watch this episode again.
I read
this news a few hours before I watched tonights episode, and my thought at the time was: So what. I have actually been waiting for the news that VM had been axed. I thought it was a given. But apparently it isn't. The chances of a return next season are "pretty good"?! The ratings have been horribly low and the quality hasn't been what it used to be, IMO. All signs pointed to cancel. This was before I saw tonight's episode.
After watching it: FUCK YES! IT MIGHT RETURN! Yup, I am re-emotionally invested in this show. Where to begin... PAUL RUDD. PAUL FUCKING RUDD. He is just amazing anyway you slice it. He was funny, sad, drunk, obnoxious, and likable all at the same time. Quality. I totally dugg Desmond, I actually felt really sorry for him. I wanted him to be OK and go to rehab and recover and make albums and make a comeback. I guess I got too invested in him. But yeah, PAUL FUCKING RUDD. It was funny seeing him as such a massive douche, because Paul Rudd is the nicest guy on Earth. I saw him in Three Days of Rain on Broadway, and he stayed behind and signed autographs for everyone. He was the last to leave.
I think what worked was that everyone fit together. For the first time, I was so hardcore Veronica/Piz. I saw them, I wanted them to go out, I wanted them to just be happy, because I think Piz really could do it. Logan is the hot love guy, but you know he'll end up smashing someone's headlights in sooner or later. Piz is just so perfect, hell I want to date him. If Veronica decides to dump Piz, can I have him? Plz? That's probably the only reason why I want
Private Practice to get picked up. That shot of Chris Lowell and the surf board on Grey's Anatomy last week... Let's just say I never thought of him like that until then. Right, back to Piz. The handholding at the end just killed me. Soooo cute. Let Logan have Parker.
MAC! MAC! I remember when she hooked up with the Nature boy (I haven't gotten the boys names yet, so bear with me), I remember being really angry. I was still reeling from what Beaver did to Mac, and I wasn't ready for her to move on. But when I saw her with Nerd boy, I got that ZOMG feeling that has been missing from everything this season. They are just so cute. I was happy when she kicked Nature boy to the curb. Who was she kidding? I would never jog, or hike, or do anything outdoorsey for anybody, even a really hot guy.
Dick was DICK! No more relatively meaningful insight or other characters confiding in him. He is back to being this major league ass hole. I like my Dick two ways, tormented over Beaver's death... and absolutely douchey. Tonight we got the old, carefree, D.
I have one final topic to address: VERONICA WAS VERONICA! SHE WASN'T ANNOYING! Completely and totally tolerable. She wasn't obnoxiously clever or witty like she has been this season. She wasn't whiney or pissy or annoying or anything negative. She was just regular old V. Plus she and Wallace had a heart to heart. It reminded me of days of old when they were BFF's. I don't think we've seen a lot of that lately.
So this bring on this mysterious FBI-centric, castless, yet unnamed season 4 of Veronica Mars.
Figured I should update my LJ, just for kicks. I was feeling kinda pink, so voila! Now I just need to finish school (kill me).
