i thought every mother understands her children well.
so i was taken aback when my mother did not.
it becomes a challenge for me.
like how a good wife will be matchmade
with a husband who isn't as good as she is.
life's challenges.

when i refuse to let them understand me,
when i refuse to seek opinion of others,
when i don't wish to share that traumatic experience
with the people who cared for me,
when i believe the only thing
i need is time,

does that count as stubbornness?
