Tanker Chartering Report Week # 6

Feb 14, 2011 12:06

Отчёт за прошедшую неделю (датирован 11-го февраля 2011 г.) любезно предоставлен компанией P.F. Bassoe AS, Oslo, Norway:

As expected, the week started with a good amount of new enquiries as the Far East returned back from holiday.
Ships started to disappear for end month liftings, and during the week the list got thinner for every day.
Owners were in addition able to keep their nerves by holding back, and by the end of the week rates have
moved 30 ws points for MEG/East to 75 lvls. The Feb program is more or less finished and in total it has been
a good month with abt 105 cargoes ex MEG. Smax owners enjoyed a welcomed Wafr rush but regretfully also
a very short lived one. Due to a busy market and tight position lists, owners managed to press rates up to ws80.
The charterers was gaught up in the fire, and had to take cover and then decided to stay away from the market.
One charterer decided to test the waters after two days in hiding and received many attractive offers with the
market dropped down to w65 for a Wafr/Med voyage. The Aframax market have been split in two. The Med and
Black Sea have soften to abt ws 82,5 and ws 85, where as the Nsea and Baltic firmed to ws 90 and 80 respectively.
The reason has been oversupply of tonnage in the Med, while the Nsea and Baltic have seen a good amount of fresh
cargoes.
