Yay, the Atlantis season opener aired!
I'm really happy with the episode. I liked how much was happening, that there was one disaster after the other, and Rodney's and John's reactions to these news, the brief optimism, only to have everything go fubar again. Also I liked Dr. Keller. I've been sorry to see Carson die, but Keller seems a promising character so far.
Some other random things I squeed about while watching:
Radek and Rodney being so in tune with each other that they never completed their sentences while they figured out the problem was great.
That scene when John asks Rodney to keep him in the loop. John seemed understandably uncomfortable with being in command and still asserts himself, then slips back into their more informal relationship. And it was kind of cute how he told Rodney that he'd hit him if he dumbed down the technobabble even further than the conduits as pipes analogy.
I really liked the special effects with the shield collapsing.
The whole asteroids and puddlejumpers plan! Sheppard's plan was awesome, and then him trying to encourage the civilians! I <3 John's pep talk, but he kind of sucks at them, doesn't he? Still how Rodney helps him out, and John't talk was finished by Rodney's "or we die" motivational method was great. And it turned out to be effective. I liked the his asteroids game comparison, and got why Rodney was so apprehensive -- I was terrible at asteroids also. Anyway, that whole scene made me squee.
Is it weird that I'm starting to find Bill kind of adorable? I hope Sam and he will come up with something.
Then the next disaster with John and Zelenka's spacewalk, and John throwing him across the damaged city was also great. I liked the visuals.
Aww, Ronon and Elizabeth! With Ronon visiting her in the infirmary and thanking her for letting him stay even though she can't hear him.
John and Rodney fighting over Elizabeth's treatment, and then making up! I found both their reactions believable, John has reason to be paranoid about the nanites and their replicator connection, and I think that he's now responsible for the whole city also weighs on him and makes him more cautious, rather than risking everything to save one person, which I suppose he'd like to do as much as Rodney. And then Rodney apologizing for doing it anyway! And I really liked the Teyla-Elizabeth scene afterwards too.
A heist to the Replicator home world! squee! Woe though that I have to wait another week for the next part!
