Old school shaving :3

Bit of different direction for today's post, still a review tho (I'm trying to make a post every 3 days, and every second one is a review.. we'll see if that works)

Anyway lets get on with it :P i have been using cartridge type razors since i started shaving... when i was like 14 (yes sadly i had to shave nearly daily from that age)

The price of cartridges for these razors (Gillette mach 3, Wilkinson sword fusion etc) has become extortionate and tbh never liked shaving much wit thnme, always seemed a chore, i stumbled across this thread www.volkszone.co.uk/VZi/showthread.php on VZi volkzone (a volkswagen forum oddly enough)

It piqued my interest, and i read through the whole thread, by the time i had got to the end i had decided to buy a double edge razor, and a brush etc, noticed that bodyshop macca root shaving cream was recommended so i bought a tub of that, and one of there synthetic shaving brushes, then ordered a merkur futur safety razor from connaught shaving the razor turned up after a few days, was kinda excited to try it out (yeah i know sad huh)

was a little wary of using it, as i was afraid id cut myself as soon as it touched my skin, but there was no problem, shaved cleanly faster then my old razor ever did, and left my skin a lot smoother (if a little tight/dry as i wasn't used to it, after a couple of days my skin seemed to become accustom to it)

The razor itself is very good quality, nice weight, easy to change blades on and adjust the setting, not that cheap but it will last a lifetime (and more....)

as for blades, i was advised to try out a few different types of razor blades used the merkur one i got with the razor (these are very good but very pricy, over 2 times as much as any other make) also got some Wilkinson sword "saloon" ones with it too, they were ok but not great, reading through that forum thread and ones elsewhere id heard good things about  Gillette 7 o'clock blades, so had a look on ebay and scored 25 of them for the bargain price of 1.99 turns out they are pretty good (with razor blades ymmv, as everyone is different)

been total converted to using double edge razors, definitely far far better then the latest multi blade cartridge ones that the company's decide we really "need", there cheaper, give a better shave and are generally better for your skin (also it supports smaller company's making shaving accessories etc so that's good in my opinion too)

probably do a more detailed view on some of  the other shaving related stuff i have bought in a few weeks...
