An interesting take on it! I wonder how she came to accept the Gamgees down the road!

Maybe Frodo introduced them before they left- anything would be better than the Sackville-Bagginses.

Bag End recognized the child of her heart and her door opened easily beneath his calloused hands.

Ohhhh, how lovely and magical.

Thank you very much. I like to fill cryptic prompts sometimes because they send my mind to interesting places and it's always nice when other people want to come along.

Though actually considering some of the things I've written, I end up in weird places all on my own as well.

I have always thought that the rivalry between the two families must have started with Longo. If you look at the Family Trees, it is obvious that Otho and Lobelia were underage when theattempt to take over Bag End happened.

I love it when we get to see the upper branches of that Tree filled out !

I'm glad you enjoyed it :).
I've actually never noticed the bit about the ages (except maybe subconsciously given how this story turned out).

I just get curious about all those background characters sometimes and like to write them backstory. I mean I'm putting a family reunion in one of my fics just for the excuse to pull all kinds of cousins in off Bilbo's family tree - which I may or may not have saved just for this kind of thing.

I've done a number of stories with the "older generation" and a lot of them feature in the "Bilbo bio" I'm writing.

I also did a book-verse AU a number of years ago, in which Bilbo's gardener had his apprenctice Hamfast paint over the front door before the Dwarves arrived, LOL!

But I love all those minor characters! They are awesome.

And then, Frodo!

It's a lovely ficlet, and you are amazing to write in so many genres and tones!

Yes, Frodo. I'm sure he'll help them both feel better.

And I don't think of it as writing in so many different genres as much as getting bored easily and hating to repeat myself, but I'm glad you like them.
