Is anyone else pissed the fuck off or scared by the Supreme Court's ban on an abortion method, or did you all miss the memo because the VA Tech tragedy is apparently more significant?
I'm very angry. And very frightened for the future of women's rights. But maybe I'm the only one. I feel like we're going backwards rather than forwards. It's OUTRAGEOUS.
Read Thursday, April 19th's New York Times article on it and be pissed with me.
I don’t understand why they’d rather ban a method that leaves a fetus intact than one “dismembering it in the uterus." They find it amoral to abort a fetus, but they’d rather it be chopped to bits if an abortion is going to be performed. It makes absolutely no sense to me!
Bush said, “We will continue to work for the day when every child is welcomed in life and protected in law." That is SCARY.
Justice Kennedy thinks that banning it is better for women because we make uneducated decisions and we are going to be devastated by the regret we will have for having this type of abortion.
Oh yea, and there is no health exception to the ban because it is UNCERTAIN whether or not it is necessary to women's health. But you know, if you really think you need an exception for health reason, you can go to court to challenge the law. YOU WILL HAVE ALREADY HAVE HAD THE CHILD, AND BE POTENTIALLY DISABLED OR DEAD BY THE TIME IT REACHES COURT!
Last time I looked, women don't wake up and say, "I think I am going to get pregnant so I can have an abortion." But I guess that's how men see it.
