By the tiniest of margins on a climatological scale, probably, the snow and freezing rain simply sorta "fell apart" by the time it was supposed to arrive here. It became very humid, so it seemed much colder than this morning, but in fact the air stayed warm enough to hold enough moisture that there was only scattered rain. There's actually a feedback effect: with any accumulation of snow and ice, the air temperature becomes a little cooler than it would otherwise be, creating... snow, snow, and more snow.
Weather that's more typical for this time of year (rain- and wind-storms) will be moving in starting tomorrow night, apparently, with a ten degree C warmup (from freezing point to around 50 degrees F).
I'm having a sleeping crisis. And I need, really need to go out for a little each and every day right now more than ever. So the finer points of what the weather might actually be is able to catch and keep my attention more than usual, probably.
