There's something poetically dissapointing when you bite into a donut you thought was filled...

...and finding out that it is in fact without jelly or creme...just bread.

Here’s what I meant in my last post:

I recently got a new phone that has a camera built in, which all phones seem to have these days. My first thought when I got this phone was that the camera could be grossly misused for amateur photography. I say grossly misused because I’ve seen this happen many many times before.

Too many times have I seen black and white pictures of trees posted on-line with the photographer asking people what they think. They’re damn trees! No, because you used Photoshop to make it black and white, it doesn’t make it artsy. Better yet: a close up shot of something pointless such as a single blade of grass or a loose screw on a playground…not artsy, stop it. I just can’t stand all the people out there who have a point and shoot camera that suddenly makes them photographers. I don’t claim to be one myself, but I know a bad picture when I see one. Now listen: there’s a difference between a bad picture and a picture of something that’s not intended to be artsy. A really hilarious street sign or billboard is okay; or pictures of your friends. Just stop trying to take that really artsy shot when you’re not really artsy. Gross.

Same thing with poems
Haikus are not hard to write
Please stop writing them.

I see a lot of bad poetry. I mean a LOT. Poetry is not just the amount of big words you use, or following the syllable guidelines of a haiku. Maybe you’ve even learned how to write old English properly, but I don’t care because you just wrote a poem about how precious life is, inspired by your recently deceased dog…..not poetry. Stop it.

Now the worst part about all of this is that I’m being hypocritical now aren’t I. I say that you don’t have the right to call your crappy cell phone pictures art because you don’t know about photography, but neither do I so how I can say that without being hypocritical. I can’t really, but at least I’m not the cause of bad art like you. I even talk shit about people who write bad poetry or just plain bad writing, and I can’t even back myself up there either. I write a page or two whenever I type a blog and still a great English scholar could tell me my sentences are choppy. Nothing flows. I make horribly invalid points. It only seems like I utilize sesquipedalian idiom with the connotation of galvanizing my patrons. (I smile every time I get to use the word sesquipedalian…I always have)

Anyways that’s my rant only a little more detailed and focused.

Disclaimer: (I know these should go at the top but I bet you’re still reading anyways because if you actually need the disclaimer to keep your feeling from getting hurt, you’re probably pissed off enough to have read the whole thing through just so you could argue it point by point BUT….) This is in no way directed to anyone who would even POSIBLY read this. I mean I don’t know anyone in person who does any of these things that I’ve listed, so if you think I’m talking about you, you’re probably wrong, don’t worry. Sorry for TWO negative blogs today…usually not my style.
