"Making out in public is still disgusting," Arthur says but he swallows hard as Merlin leans in closer, and Merlin watches as his eyelashes flutter shut.
Merlin cups Arthur's jaw with one hand and rubs his thumb along the length of Arthur's mouth, then follows close behind with his lips. Arthur gasps at the first contact and grasps at Merlin's arm, his fingers digging in hard enough to bruise.
"Just relax," Merlin says, and kisses Arthur's bottom lip, taking it between his own, and sucking on it lightly. Arthur loosens his grip on Merlin's arm, and instead slides both hands around Merlin's back to pull him closer.
They kiss closed-mouthed for several minutes, Merlin gently guiding Arthur's head so that their noses don't bump, when Arthur licks out and flicks his tongue against the seam of Merlin's lips, and it is Merlin's turn to clutch at Arthur too hard.
"Hey," he asks, pulling back just a little, and secretly delighted when a whimper- an honest to god whimper- comes out of Arthur's throat, even though he's pretty sure he's about to get his heart broken. Or his nose. "I want to do this. God, Arthur, I want to. But I don't want to keep kissing you if you're just in it for practice. I think our friendship can survive this, but not if we do it for much longer."
Arthur's eyes are a little unfocused as he tries to glare at Merlin. "You really are an idiot, aren't you? Why'd'ya think I never kissed Vivian? Her father doesn't actually scare me, you know."
"Oh, god," Merlin says. "Oh, god, oh god, ohgod ohgodohgod," he says again, and crushes his mouth to Arthur's. Arthur makes a muffled noise of protest, but after just a minute Merlin's lost all the finesse he was trying to teach Arthur and it's suddenly messy, their tongues chasing each other back and forth between their mouths, and there's spit everywhere on their chins, and Merlin knows that nothing will be more perfect.
"Still think kissing is weird?" Merlin asks smugly, once their hair is a wreck and their lips are all swollen and Merlin's mother will never let them live it down if she gets home from work to find them making out on her couch. Arthur stabs his thumb at a button on the xbox controller, and another zombie explodes on the screen.
"Not as weird as it could be, I guess. I might have to do it a little more to make sure, though."
"That," Merlin says, and barely misses being eaten by a zombie himself, "can probably be arranged."
