Thank you for filling my prompt.
When, while re-reading, those few sentences about Emmeline caught my attention, I thought: "There might be something here..." My very vague ideas were just along the lines of "Hogwarts friendship or romance; grieving, nearly 20 years later".
But you dug deeper, and whoa, did you find a pot of drama!gold!
You made Emmeline the second-to-last person in the world (aside from doomed!Dumbledore) to know the truth about Snape; the two of them an adult!couple; their conversation - hiding strong feelings behind snarky remarks - truly Slytherin, and her death not "collateral damage", but a concsious, but unsung sacrifice. Also, you seem to know I love to torment my favorite characters

I'm so glad you liked! I have to thank you for the prompt - this really wasn't a moment I'd really thought of before. I realized I didn't want to Snape to be just blurting out things like "murder" through sheer inability to control his emotions - the more I thought about it, the more I wanted this to be a conscious choice he makes.
