"Tell me, Amos," said Lucius, his voice crawling like a snake up the back of Amos's neck, hissing and licking at his ear. "How long did you wait?"

"Pardon?" Amos looked over his shoulder, having difficulty in discerning the words being spoken. He was far too focused on his physical sensations at the moment, Lucius's hands on his waist, lips on his neck. It was the effect of the storm, being caught in the magic of Lucius Malfoy; he was always focused on the physical.

"How long did you wait for me?" Lucius asked again, drawing out the words as his hand slipped lower, sliding into Amos's trousers. Amos felt his face flush and his stomach clench, hating himself for still having these childish reactions after all this time. "How long, after Hogwarts, before you gave up on me?"

"Not long," Amos replied, and gasped as Lucius touched him, those nimble fingers caressing his skin. "I think I figured it out rather quickly, that you had abandoned me for them."

"Oh, Amos." Lucius kissed his cheek so tenderly, Amos nearly forgot who he was with. It was easy, with Lucius, who seemed to have mastered the art of seduction, of hiding his true intentions. Every time they met this way, fiery passion in anonymous hotel rooms, Amos forgot nearly everything. He forgot himself. "I am so sorry to have been taken from you for so long. I missed you terribly, underneath it all."

Amos would have said something about darkness and death, the nature of the taking, had Lucius not been touching him so intimately, stirring his desire so that his rationality lay completely obscured beneath it. It was not until much later, after they lay spent on top of one another, clinging to sweat-soaked sheets and limbs, that the thoughts surfaced in Amos's mind and the reality set in. "Please don't sugarcoat this, Lucius," he said quietly, shifting slightly so that he was no longer touching Lucius. "You were taken from me, yes, but by nothing save your own desire for power and torment. I am here now because I somehow want you still in spite of that, and nothing more."

Lucius said nothing for a long moment, and Amos stared at him quizzically, trying to read the thoughts which lay behind that beautiful mask of blank arrogance. Lucius stared back at first, his eyes as hauntingly stunning as ever, until he spoke, and his gaze drifted slowly downward. "It is a shame, Amos," he said, "that you still cannot understand what has happened to me."

Amos scoffed and rolled out of bed, the spell broken, again, for the time being. "That you were seduced by the Dark Arts? Oh, how my sympathy grows for you, Lucius." He fumbled with his clothes, clumsily pulling his pants and trousers on.

Lucius watched him from the bed, his eyes narrowed as he lay sprawled across the covers. "Then you do not believe that I was truly a victim of the Imperius curse?"

"Your lies may fool rest of the Ministry, Lucius, but please do not insinuate that they should fool me. It is an affront to both my character and our history together."

"History," said Lucius, and his voice was dark. "You put too much stock in history."

"And you do not put quite enough in it, it seems."

"Come, Amos, do not leave so soon. There are still many hours before the sun sets."

"I think I'm through with you for the day," Amos replied, pulling his cloak around his shoulders.

Lucius slid gracefully out of bed and slipped his arms around Amos's torso, clinging tightly to Amos and sparking that miserable heat once again in Amos's stomach. "Now you are attempting to fool me, Amos," Lucius whispered in his ear, the snake hissing at him once again. "You cannot walk away so easily."

And Amos tried to resist, but Lucius Malfoy had written the book on seduction, and he would never cease to follow its pages to the letter, so that Amos had no choice but to give in, and forget all over again.
