Another synopsis:
There is a small community of werewolves. They live peaceably, and alone. They're kind of like an Amish community.
There are vampires, but they are dumb, parasitic creatures, and are considered nothing more than a source of food.
One day, this new species arrives on the scene. They are shape-changers, and their instinctive drive tells them only to eat.
The werewolves call them bugs.
At first they appear as large, fuzzy, sheep-like creatures. And the werewolves don't care... because they taste good.
Then they begin turning into vampires, which is alarming, but still edible.
Finally, many of the creatures begin mimicking werewolves and infiltrating the community.
Secret codes and gestures are put into place and at first, those who act noticeably different, are killed, and turn out to be the creatures.
But as these things get more adept at impersonating the wolves of the community, it becomes harder and harder to identify them.
The secret codes are changed almost daily, and it becomes acceptable to kill anyone who doesn't say hello.
