This was yesterday and was kind of vague on the details, so here's a synopsis.
There was a royal family in some other country. Royalty there was more of political importance than social importance.
The family consisted of the mother and father, two daughters and a son.
They were advocating for human rights in their country, and while many people adored them for it, some people didn't.
The parents were aware of several threats that had been made against them, so they took their kids up to this private mountain cottage.
No one was supposed to know they were there.
Of course, someone did.
While they were out playing in the yard, the youngest daughter sees this woman coming towards the house looking "really mad."
The father tries to herd everyone into the house, but the assassin reaches them too soon.
All of the family is shot and killed, except for the girl. She gets shot in the throat but is not morally wounded.
---
At a U.N. meeting several years later. This same girl is being heard. She's under a false identity and has been living under it for most of her life, in a different country.
She's written several books. One of which is a collection of native folklore, stories which her father used to tell her before bed.
As an introduction, part of this book is read to the audience.
The woman struggles to stay composed.
Finally she is introduced and steps up to the podium, subconsciously touching the scar on her neck.
She is still advocating for the same rights as her parents before her. And during her speech, she reveals her true identity.
I'd just like to add that, after I woke up, my throat felt really tight, like I was the one who'd been shot.
Hope you enjoy!
