Happy to have had a three day weekend before kicking off the reality of my new job. I finished my training 2 weeks ago, but stayed at the training branch because my mentor had been on vacation and I still needed 3 days with him. With those completed, I was just hanging around because they weren't sure exactly where to put me--my branch doesn't open until March.
I feel pretty confident with everything, but I haven't been in a cash drawer in over a year, and didn't go through teller training again, so I only know what I remember of the teller system, and what I got to put my hands on when the girls at the training branch would let me play on their computers. I think it's more than enough, as the system is very user friendly. I'm nervous, but I think I'll do fine.
I have no idea what I'll be doing at the branch where I am floating. They are hiring a banker and a teller, and in my current title, I am a crossover of both positions. My one concern is that they will try to use me as a full time teller, and I won't be able to hit my numbers, but I think if I talk to the branch manager about that first, I'll be fine.
I will get to walk into the branch with a nice referral for business and a potential business account from some conversations I had over the weekend. That's a healthy way to start the job! I've also already made my numbers for the month, last week, so I don't have to worry too much about that.
You know, it's just nice to have finally settled down and said, "This is what I want to be doing--I don't care if it isn't glamorous or important." I don't have the drive to be Jonas Salk, and I don't have the cheekbones {or anything else!) to be Halle Berry. I'm happy =)
