Pelicans!
I saw my first pelican of 2008 - an American white pelican at Palo Alto Baylands. I didn't get close enough to take a decent photograph, but I expect many more now that the big birds have returned (although I can't say for certain that the white pelicans ever left - I don't know as much about them, but I haven't seen them in months).
