apparently he's getting rave reviews, which is fab, but. BUT. according to the guardian (ilu guardian), they've chopped out:
"Since no man knows of aught he leaves, what is't to leave betimes? Let be."
probably one of my favourite hamlet lines. and thus one of my favourite lines in any writing ever. Man, I remember in the advanced higher english exam, they gave that quote as part of a question and I got irrationally furious that I'd gone to the bother of memorising it and falling entirely in love with it, and there it was. everyone else got it for free. bastards.
but yeah. what the fuck? that's no use at all. put it back it. I may have to sulk and watch the branaugh version tomorrow. it's fucking outstanding.
still in love with ben wishaw's hamlet at the old vic. when wassat. 2004? 2003? unfortunate giggling moment when he leapt into ophelia's grave, mainly as my theatre companions had spent time at the airport teaching me an alternative opera society tune that went "my name is jack. I am a necropheliac." also included the lovely line: "a fuck is a must and you can't fuck dust" as a rage against cremation.
those were the days, eh?
