Hezekiah \he-ze-kiah\ as a boy's name is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Hezekiah is "gives strength". Biblical name.
I have just finished every episode of Robert Downey, Jr. in Ally McBeal Season 4, and my heart is just about broken.
I'm going to try very hard not to turn this entry into a rehash of
Alvern - August 3, 2012, where I just gushed over Robert Downey, Jr. Rather, I'm gushing over his character, Larry Paul, introduced in the beginning of Ally McBeal Season 4 and also written out at the ending of Season 4.
I have no desire to recap his storyline, but he's basically the most perfect man in the world.
Okay, let me start over.
Larry Paul is an attorney. He is single, sings, plays the piano, makes snowmen, has a son with whom he can perform circus tricks with, quirky, adorable, looks beautiful in suits, occasionally wears glasses that match with his shirt / tie / sweater, has a heart-breaking smile, has a heartbreakingly soulful look, and played by the ridiculously talented Robert Downey, Jr.
Please stop smiling at me. I'm losing cognitive function.
I don't want to plot out the entire storyline, so here's the gist:
Ally meets Larry; Ally and Larry date; Ally and Larry have normal couple problems; Larry has character development that Ally has to deal with; Larry has to temporarily leave, which breaks Ally's (and our) heart(s); Larry builds her a snowman of himself with a note saying he'll be back, which Ally keeps in a freezer inside her bedroom (okay, I would, too); Larry comes back, and Ally (and I) is happy; Larry and Ally have more normal couple issues; Larry attempts to propose to her, but is convinced by "omens" that it might not be and realizes that he is the problem and not ready; Larry and Ally breaks up; and Larry is written out of Ally McBeal, forever breaking MY heart.
Perhaps what breaks my fangirl!heart even further into dust is that Larry and Ally weren't suppose to break up at the end of the season. THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO GET MARRIED.
Why? You see, at the time, RDJ was still having trouble with his drug addiction. Major trouble. And after an arrest in April 2001, he was dismissed from the show and the ending of Ally McBeal Season 4 was rewritten. I'm sure there is an entire generation of women whose sole reason for saying no to drugs is because they fucked up RDJ at that time, forcing David E. Kelley (writer and producer of the show) to write out the character of Larry Paul, breaking the hearts of women who loved him. Seriously, this has become my number one reason for saying no to drugs.
As I've said, I've finished every episode of Ally McBeal with RDJ in it. Twice. The first time, I was squeal at the beginning and middle, because he was so dorky, quirky, and downright adorable. At the end, I was just like ;_; "What are you doing to me, man? Are you trying to destroy my ability to feel emotion ever again?" The second time around, I was just in a constant state of panic, because I knew what was going to happen.
After having some panic attacks over the ending, I wanted to see if I could find an online refuge to hide and recuperate. And I found a ton of people still crying over Larry Paul. This was a surprise to me, since Ally McBeal Season 4 was broadcast in the 2000-2001 season. I simply couldn't conceive that there would still be a near-diehard fan base for a character that written out from over a decade ago. But they were there, and thank God they were. I found people who were exactly like me: people who started to rewatch Ally McBeal for RDJ; people who only watched Season 4 because of Larry Paul; people who ignored any episode in Season 4 that did not have an appearance by Larry; people who just about threw their TV / laptop out the window because Larry and Ally broke up.
I shouldn't be that surprised that I found people online who are heartbroken over a character that was last broadcast over a decade, since you can pretty much find anything on the internet. I'm really just most happy that I found people I can commiserate with.
Now, I'm going to spend some time looking at Larry Paul .gifs before slowly drifting back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
