Leona \le(o)-na\ as a girl's name is of Latin origin, and the meaning of Leona is "lion".
Out of Sinful Colors' repertoire of colors, one of the most raved about is 283 "San Francisco." Like everyone else in the blogosphere, I, too, love this color, not just for it being named after my city, but also because it is an excellent emerald shimmer.
Despite it being excellent and beautiful, my biggest qualm with this color is that even after three coats, it's still not completely opaque. It's a little depressing considering that 105 "Midnight Blue" and 943 "Hot Spot" are opaque with two thin coats. So, I resolved to layer "San Francisco" over another color to achieve opacity.
This is one coat of Sinful Colors Professional Nail Enamel 283 "San Francisco" layered over one coat of Sinful Colors Professional Nail Enamel 948 "Last Chance."
Forgive the photos; it actually looks less blue and a lot more greener that the pictures show.
As you can see in
Khalil - July 11, 2011, "Last Chance" is a a dark forest green creme. The first time I tried it, I was absolutely delighted, because it was opaque in one coat (I still did two to even it out, though). Since my primary goal was to achieve opacity, I used this as the base color and then layered a single coat of "San Francisco" over. I was immediately floored by how close it was to my ideal.
I also did a comparison shot to see whether there was any strong noticeable differences. From left to right, on alternating fingers, it's three coats of Sinful colors 283 "San Francisco" and one coat of "San Francisco" layered over a coat of 948 "Last Chance." As you can see, three coats isn't opaque and when compared to the layered version, it looks dull and lacks the depth and richness the latter has.
To say the least, I will now be using "Last Chance" with "San Francisco."
