Rewind one week to Monday the 19th of February. I am reviewing potential properties for myself here in Melbourne. I notice one that looks like it will satisfy my needs. I call the real estate agent and am forced to leave a message. My call is returned later that day (about 30 minutes before the close of business, which all but removes my chances of viewing the property that day). I speak to the agent and explain to them that due to my current living location and working arrangement I will only be able to come and look at the place later in the week, probably Thursday. I am told thats ok adn all I have to do is call them when I am able to look at the palce and a time will be organised over the phone for me to come in and pick up the keys.
Come Thursday morning I call the agent expecting a quick call detailsing times and such, only to get a message machine. I decide to improvise and call the reception line to discuss my options there. When I speak to hte receptionist I am told that if I leave my details I will be informed of the next inspection date for this still available property. I do that, but continue trying to call the agent in the hope of taking up the inital offer of a lone inspection. I keep on getting the machine. I leave a message.
Friday, more machine. I am starting to wonder if this particular agent ever spends any time in the office at all. Come Saturday I have reached my patience limit and send an email explaining that I am very interested in this property and would like to organise a time to look at it.
Today I call the reception line and ask to speak to an agent, any agent, about this property. I am finally put through to a real person who informs me that the property has recently been leased.
While I understand that rental property real estate is a market that is not the sort of thing that is set as the right candidate can come along any time, I would expect a little more information about the goins on, especially when I leave a message to finalise a loosely organised deal earlier in the week. This is the second time this company has annyoed me, the first being when they leased a property before the inspection date despite telling me it would be preferential for me to look at the property. I would avoid this company if it were not for the fact they seem to be a larger player in the suburbs I am concentrating on.
