Right, so unless you watched cartoon network from around 1998 and onwards, you probably aren't gonna care much about this rant. Unless you're just bored and/or procrastinating. It could happen.
Goddamn I miss Toonami.
I just ran across a whole bunch of the old promos for it, I'm talking the ones from back in '98 with Moltar. I watched Toonami every freaking day from the time I was like, nine all the way until they replaced it with 'Miguzi' or some shit and I switched to Adult Swim. By the end, I wasn't even really that into the shows anymore, it was mostly just habit. But even then, I still loved Toonami itself. Maybe it was the awesome video mash-ups they put in between the shows or the fact that TOM was the greatest thing ever.
I know Toonami is technically still on the air, I tried watching it a few weeks ago for old time's sake. They've changed the host again, but that's not the problem. The thing I loved about Toonami was its spirit. Yeah, that sounds silly to say, but there was something about it that was just so different than anything else on TV. I found a whole compillation of the various speeches Moltar and TOM made over the years and it made me wonder just how much of an impact Toonami had on my personality. I mean, a lot of those speeches say things that I truly believe. Maybe that's why the old Toonami still has such a spot in my heart.
. . . I kinda feel silly for writing all that, but y'know what? It's true. I can't help it. Toonami and animation in general was such a big part of my life and still is. It doesn't come up very often, but my dream job would be to work in animation of some kind. The only reason I'm not really trying for it is that I don't think I'm skilled enough to break into such a difficult field. So, I guess I'll just have to settle for being a fan and hope people don't think I'm too much of a freak.
