So I was on my way home today, standing at the corner waiting for cars to pass so I can cross.
This car turns, it's on the other side from where I'm standing. But then it slows down and stops at that awkward spot where vehicles would turn right. But there weren't too many cars so... the car stopped there.
The windows went down. They were very dark tinted windows; you wouldn't see who was inside until the windows were down. As far as I can remember, the car was black or dark blue.
Anyway, I'm just standing there, wondering why this car stopped at such an awkward spot and why the windows were going down.
And then I see that the driver is someone I don't really recognize. And he has another guy as passenger who's looking over at me too. The driver then goes, "Hi Ma'am." and since I'm not really staring at them, I shift my gaze, pretending that I'm not noticing any of this.
A red car passes by on my side of the road (making it easier to pretend that I didn't hear), and the navy blue/black car goes on, since another car behind it starts honking.
All I could think of at that moment was, "what the hell was that about?"
For the next ten minutes I was flustered and rushing to the mall-- somewhere, anywhere, familiar and well-lighted. I kept thinking over who those men were, and whether I might have actually known them and could not remember. But then again, they didn't address me by my name. And I don't really think my friends or acquaintances would bother to stop at the middle of an intersection to greet me.
I shared this with my family shortly after dinner later on...
My mom posed a couple of hypotheses, one was that perhaps they wanted to ask for directions. (All the way from the other side of the road?)
My brother in law offered the same explanation, since it IS possible. (But then the way they said "Hi Ma'am...")
My dad said that I should be more vigilant, and know what to do in case something happens. (I've been trying to figure it out...)
My younger sister thought that it could be one of my students. (But I didn't recognize them.)
My older sister thought it was plain creepy. (I agree.)
So, whoever you are... if that was YOU... and you're reading this now. Please don't do that again or I might do something... painful.
*ahem*
Mom told me that at least nothing really happened. (Thank God.) She also shared a couple of experiences she had before. Actually, just one... to put it simply, while she was walking home a complete stranger in a parked car called her attention and she saw that he was doing something disgusting.
The same thing happened to my aunt, although this time she was on the bus and it was the guy right beside her doing the disgusting thing. She tried to leave even if it wasn't her stop but the guy was at the aisle seat and he angrily said, "let me finish." My aunt couldn't leave...
You really can't tell how many sick people there are in this world...
But men like those, I think, ought to be skewered alive.
