To cut a long story short
Okay, so I'm really enjoying this show, I like Alex, I love the repartee between her and the Guv and the general plotlines are interesting and good. But I'm really sick of all this bullshit with her parents already. I had the same issue with Life on Mars to some degree, but at least it wasn't every episode. Regardless, I was really glad when the second season rolled around and they were done with that shit.
It just really ups the embarrassment factor of the show. You know, when you're so embarrassed on a character's behalf that you can barely watch? And my whole life I've had a serious issue with that. As a kid I used to walk out of the room and kind of meander in and out until it was over. Now I'll still bury my head in the covers and go, "Oh, Sam/Alex, what the fuck are you doing, man?" But also, particularly in this case, it's not as interesting a plotline to me, especially since Alex's mother is just SO loathsome. I mean, man does she suck. What a raging bitch. I like Evan, he can stick around, but Caroline just ruins the soup. Unnecessary. I hope they'll blow up soon.
