Wow.. when I went to deposit the checks after work the clerk asked me, "How was your day?" to which I replied, "Loaded question...." A few highlights:
-My company moved offices so upon coming into work I remembered the joys of unpacking and attempting to organize all of the lovely crap we brought with us. Including all the stuff from my desk that I use multiple times each day... all scattered in different boxes. Normally I enjoy a good treasure hunt, but with the typical "Day of Satan" I like to call "Monday," treasure hunting was not my idea of fun. :-P *begins coffee consumption*
-We received 4839204398 billion checks in the mail, which of course I spent the day entering in and processing. On top of this came the other daily duties of entering in stacks of invoice schedules, answering the phone calls from one of our very angry clients, installing a computer for the new hire (I'm the only tech-savvy one that knew how...ha), searching old outlook files for emails to save the company from being sued, helping train the new hire with a few minor things, and trying to breathe... all at the same time. *more coffee*
-I forgot that I needed to fill out my 6-page application that was sent to me in an excel document in preparation for my interview that night... which was moved from 8:15pm to 6pm. i added that to my juggling act... in between making sure my coworkers didn't see me applying somewhere else, lol.
-I had taken my car in for a "Buyer's Inspection" to make sure it didn't have any major problems. I heard back about my car needing $1600 in repairs of which about $800 were major... I called my dad to inform him before calling the car place I bought it from to inform them as well. All while juggling my too-busy day...
-My dad was upset, after calling the car place himself, that the car place wouldn't pay for any of the repairs and suggested I take the car back and go for the other one with lower mileage. Stress levels rising. *more coffee*
-I talk to car guy at car place and tell him that I don't see the point in paying for all the repairs when I could spend less on the other car I had seen with half the mileage and, most likely, little to no repairs... car guy tells me to have the dealership fax over their inspection and he'll see what he can do.
-More phone coordinating amidst existing havoc. *coffeeeeee*
-I take my lunch out of the fridge around 2 to try and eat while working... I got as far as consuming a grapefruit cup. My hands were way too preoccupied attempting to stay sane on work. *finish coffee*
-5:00 comes and I barely finish checks (normally I'm done with EVERYTHING by 4:30ish), after having to search to figure out which one was missing/incorrect that was throwing the collection report out of balance. I also left stacks of crap I didn't get done (first time ever... yeesh) that I need to figure out a way to get done in the morning so I'm not completely bombarded tomorrow too. Print out my application and hurry to the bank before walking to my interview. One hour is plenty of time to walk a mile...
-Stupid shoes. Not the smartest idea to where 4" heels, that are already the most uncomfortable shoes I own, and walk a mile to save a couple dollars on a bus. My feet were killing me.
-A couple drunk guys were hitting on me and call to me "Hey baby...*censored*" while I crossed the street. I'm normally not a violent person but, so help me, I seriously was about to knee a guy in the groin and slug the other... if not more. Not even joking. It's a good think I was on the phone with Jon to distract me a bit. Worst possible day for someone to mess with me! haha Bitchy, overly-caffeintated, stressed out, in pain from stupid shoes, unprepared for interview.... not a good combination.
-Car guy calls and says he'll split costs on repairs but I still have to pay $400. I tell him I'll think about it and get back to him.
-Caffeine overkill starts kicking in even more and adds more to my anxiousness and I start stressing about my interview.
-Another homeless guy comes up to me to ask if I have any food I can give him. I say no feeling bad knowing that I have a whole lunch I didn't get to enjoy today.
-Finally get to interview location after a couple detours with 15 minutes to spare. As I sign parts of the application I realize I forgot to include my professional references... *#^%.
-Get into the building to interview but both elevators won't work. I ask the security guard and he says they shut them down after 5. Remembering that I forgot to put the interviewer's cell into my phone I continue my manic panic and ask the security guard if there is anything he can do to call up there. At this point I'm on the verge of completely breaking down and just going home. No way I can interview in this state... Pretty sure I was about to go in there hyperventilating and crying going, "PLEASE HIRE ME! I'D BE GOOD!" Then wait for them to ask the ever-popular question, "How do you do under high-stress situations and deadline pressure?" Ha!
-Being my angel, the security guard got a hold of someone and they came down to get me a couple minutes before my interview was set to start. So much for getting there 10-15 minutes early.
-I'm pretty sure it doesn't help that the only thing I consumed today was the equivalent of probably 4-5 cups of coffee, a grapefruit cup, and 2 of the pastries that came as a "congrats on your new office" from the building management...
Interview went surprisingly well. I'm not sure I've been more surprised about something. The hiring manager came back in after and said that, while she couldn't officially say anything, people were very interested and I should definitely keep them as an option before considering my offer at work... I should find out in the next couple days about it becoming official. I also saw the homeless guy again when I was leaving my interview and gave him some food so that felt good. I called car guy back and decided to do the repairs out of complete undesire (new word...) to deal with researching, test-driving, inspecting etc. all over again. Despite my day of hell, the day is over and tomorrow is new. I should have gotten to bed earlier but I couldn't pass up on documenting this ridiculous day. I'm amazed that I didn't crack. I can't remember the last time I've been so close. I'll be even more amazed if people read this whole thing too! :-)
