"It's funny that… I've been noticing things getting more beautiful in my life. It seems like the more, I don't know if you've experienced the same way but, it seems like the deeper your sadness, the deeper the beauty. But, huh… What does this have to do with this song? Except that I'm still gawking at ya," - Ani DiFranco
Have you ever noticed that? I know that I have. When I'm melancholy, when I'm just a little sad, I notice the more beautiful things. I notice the soft pinks of flowers, the peacefulness of a lake at sunset.
What she said back on April 6, 2006 in Carnegie Hall, NY is very poignant. It's one of life's realisms.
Maybe I don't notice the beauty more when I'm sad, but that I've slowed down just enough to sit and think about the things around me. Like the fact that not only am I able to lay here typing my conscious thoughts down, but that I breath in and out. My heart pumps blood through my veins and keeps my body alive.
And I am more prone to thinking these thoughts when I'm sad. *
I just have to say that she has such a great way of putting things and I am so thankful for having be lucky enough to have been introduced to her.
*Not sad here, just reflective. Don't mind me.
