The Last Words Meme

This is it. The final curtain. You're at the end of your life, and there's someone here you really, really need to say something to before you die.

CAUSE OF DEATH1 - Accidental. Nobody meant for this to happen, but it doesn't matter now. Due to negligance, arrogance or just plain bad luck, you've become gravely ill or ( Read more... )

(( Mei Ling's actual method of suicide is dependent on which character finds her. ))

[Sob indeed, but there is Mei Ling. She's sitting calmly and having ingested those pills, she knew death would claim her soon enough. There they were again in Shadow Moses. Always. It was always about this island, and there she was in the Control Room, having disabled one of the most dangerous machines on the planet.]

Correct.

[She tried her best to smile, nevermind the fact that she was trembling inside. There was a sniper rifle brandished at her and one dangerous Wolf looking straight at her.]

The sequence is in, this island will be no more and I'll be gone before it takes me with it.

Nothing is ever in vain. At least, not now. Not when greater things are at stake.

[The computer was locked and ticking away. Exits were closing one by one.]

You could escape, but you chose to go after me. What can you gain from doing that?

[Mei Ling is looking down the barrel of a gun. She is looking straight down one and any moment her life could end faster than she expected. No, this was not the time to think about that.]

[One for Marth, please.]

[Mei Ling sipped her tea serenely, knowing that the hemlock would soon work it's way though her system. It was a pretty serene way to die, but that gave her little comfort. She was doomed from the first sip. What better place to die than in a middle of a beautiful field of flowers as well?]

[Marth had made it a habit to wander in his spare time. It was the only way he could keep himself calm. It was the only way he could really make an effort to sometimes forget the things that lingered in the back of his mind.

He paused when he saw her. Pretty Mei Ling. Pretty, intelligent, and witty. She was endearing, to some strange degree. He stopped, only mere feet away from her.]

Miss... Mei Ling?

[His head tilted. Having tea? In the middle of a field? By herself? If that wasn't suspicious enough, then surely nothing was.]

Marth?

[She had finished the last of the hemlock and was now sitting and waiting.]

Oh, how curious of you to stumble upon here. I always thought that only I knew of this place.

[Mei Ling couldn't help but feel slightly... strange. Not anything to do with the poison but Marth had found her when she had perhaps strived for a solitary death. Her body would be found days later in a similar state and she leave as quietly as she arrived in this world.

But alas, it was not to happen according to plan.]

[He tapped upon his chin in thought and finally offered a bit of an idle shrug. As he thought up something a little more graceful that such a silly gesture, his right hand splayed fingers along his cheek.]

The world is a set of mysteries and everlasting enigmas. Just because I know of the area does not imply that I know of the intrigue that it creates. If it were your place, then I would wish to keep it so.

[He looked around again before returning his attention back onto her.]

What... are you doing here by yourself? Would you allow me to join you?

Me, here by myself?

[Mei Ling laughed and dropped the cup from her hands. Now the feeling of the poison was creeping in - her feet were starting to feel cold. So were her fingertips but it would still take a while to pass through the rest of her system.]

This is almost embarrassing to admit, but I have just taken my life. Hemlock tea. A highly potent and effective way. Relatively peaceful as well. You are more than free to stay in this field, but I shall go soon enough.

[Hemlock tea? Marth had never heard of it. He watched her and the moment she dropped her tea, he was quick to drop by her side.]

But... why?

[There was no way to disguise the shock that crossed over his face. Why would anyone take their own life?]
