Supernatural season five started in the U.S. tonight. Spoilers and squeeing under the cut.
So, as is normal for Supernatural, things go from bad to worse, epic stuff happens, and the Winchester boys are completely messed up. This episode is awesome. First is the music montage of relevant stuff from previous episodes at the beginning. Next are the new titles, which I really like. Then there is Chuck, angelic goons, a Winchester fangirl, Bobby, demonic goons, Winchester angst, Lucifer angst, creepiness, some fighting, Bobby telling off idiots, and some more angst. And some pretty shots of the Impala (because, really, you can never have to many shots of the Impala). Yay!
I think this episode sets things up nicely for the rest of the season. There's a lot of exposition unloaded here, but it wasn't boring. Zachariah and his gang are not fun when they're angry. The stuff with Lucifer and the would-be vessel was creepy. Castiel exploded, but then came back somehow, but we don't know how (cool entrance to the episode, though). The boys were plucked from disaster at the beginning of the episode, but we don't know about that either. Dean is supposed to be a vessel, but he doesn't like that idea. Dean and Sam have major trust issues, which I'm sure will fuel the drama for many episodes to come. Meg-Demon is back. Oh, and Bobby is awesome, but that's nothing knew. I like how this is looking, and I hope future episodes will be stronger because of what was set up in this episode.
Short, spoiler-free version: Eric Kripke is an evil genius, and Bobby is awesome. Does anyone else on my flist watch Supernatural?
