Well, needless to say, the toga party (I should say attempt AT a toga party) was interesting to say the least. It was nothing like the original toga party that had taken place at Letta's years back with smoothies and just random running around in togas. I couldn't even find a regular bed sheet to create a toga so I had to use my purple semi-see-through bellydance veil that I swung over my shoulder and tied a sash right underneath my bosom for an empire waist effect. I got to Erin/Steve's with Madds who had picked me up only minutes after I left my dad's house. I knew it was her car by the blaring music that was being emitted from the car that resembled her mother's car. Letta and Erin were downstairs getting ready so Letta made her toga while I helped Maddy create one out of the celtic knot tapestry that her brother had given her from the Open Mind for her birthday. I actually based my toga idea for her off of one of Gorgo's dresses from 300 and it turned out pretty nicely. It wasn't until Erin tried to keep her toga up that we realized that we had no safety pins anywhere in the house and that we desperately needed them. Maddy, Letta, and I offered to run out to Giant Eagle and get them, but only if we all wore our togas out in public. With a phone call from Wyatt telling him to be in full toga apparel, we headed out to pick him up and then off to Giant Eagle.
I'm not one to shy away from running around in public in crazy costumes so this was nothing new to me and the same went for Letta. Maddy was new to it, but as long as she had her camera to pictures of our crazy antics she was fine with it. Wyatt, however, was not so comfortable with it so his toga 'magically came off' revealing his normal clothes beneath it. As comfortable and as used to dressing oddly as we had become, the employees of Giant Eagle were not so accustomed to seeing such a sight as three people dressed in togas trampsed through a very large grocery store. They must have decided to play a game with us because they told us that the safety pins were all the way at the other end of the store in aisle 14 (they were actually in aisle 3 so we had to walk all the way around Giant Eagle). We decided to make the best of the fact that we had been sent to the laundry detergent aisle so Maddy broke out her camera and took some pretty interesting pictures. This poor man trying to buy febreeze was completely caught off guard by us and I felt kind of bad. Letta and I did grab a box of SHOUT in honor and tribute to Animal House, but not many would catch on unless they were as into Animal House as we are. With safety pins in tow, we headed back to Erin's.
Soon Hailey and Benj showed up followed closely by Jeff who came to pick up Letta and then we were Letta-less. Since Erin and Steve were moving to North Carolina soon, the entire upstairs was barren with the exception of the TV, a lamp, and the TV stand. Erin had placed out comforters and blankets on the floor for us to sit on which was pretty sweet. Benj had an interesting kilt-type toga on since Hailey had stopped at Wal-Mart on the way to buy sheets and grabbed the wrong kind (the mattress covers with scrunched up corners), but I give him credit for wearing it. He sat next to me by the door, Maddy sat in between Erin and Hailey and Wyatt sat by himself across from Benj and I. We ended up watching 300 and then playing Tru-Dare, but without the board, just with the questions. We got some pretty interesting answers and were basically done with the game when Steve came home smelling of mexican food since he had just gotten off of work at On The Border. Soon Chris was there, we were all still in togas and Maddy and I had to leave. We said goodbye to everyone, jumped in Maddy's car and headed off.
Like I said, not an extremely eventful toga party, but it was fun. We got to run around in togas for no reason, scare some people, watch an awesome movie, and learn a little more about each other. Plus I got to see Chris ^_^ And Benj and Hailey who I always enjoy seeing and hanging out with.
