It's been such a long time since I have updated that I almost forgot my password. Pretty sad really, but so it goes. We've been back to school an entire week now and I'd be lying if I expressed anything less than the thrill and satisfaction I feel to be taking real business classes again. I'm actually excited to take on the core project that everyone is so afraid off. Strangely enough, this task involves a lot of public speaking so I can't really explain why I'm not shaking in my boots,... or uh black converse tennis-shoes. I think it has something to do with my relaxed course load last semester while most of the others are fresh out of Accounting 210, yikes.
At the Eller kick-off event last week we met our groups and did a bunch of team building activities. Before we began, we were asked to take a personality profile survey grouped by colors. I was the only blue person in my section. Apparently most blue people are found in english and humanities, not the cut-throat field of business. Here is part of the description:
"I look for meaning and significance in life. I believe I have purpose in life and I'm committed to discovering and fulfilling it--whatever it may be. I "experience" life and become "one" with it. I enjoy promoting growth and development in others and love to help them reach their fullest potential. I value the arts and humanities. I long for serenity, peace, and tranquility." Yeah ok, whatever that means. That all might be true, but it doesn't mean I can't be "energetic" and "competitive," not to mention "Sensible" like the rest. Take that orange.
Hrmm...I ended up trying to blend in with the greens during analysis but I think they saw through me.
Moving on now. I helped Jesse move into his new condo on Saturday. During this he came down with the flu and has had it really bad ever since. He went to campus health today to find out he has a textbook case of this season's flu and that he is extremely contagious. Great. I guess that whole, waiting on him hand and foot for three days and sleeping in the same bed was a bad move on my part. For now I feel fine but I'm definitely on fever watch. He has a doctor's note for the rest of this week's classes. I miss my quarantined boyfriend :(
Tonight wasn't a total loss. Ben and Jerry helped out. I think I'll watch the rest of Sex and the City and get some shut eye. Night night.
