Okay, so after not updating my LJ for ages, I bring y'all a meme from my sister genikeyks' quiz journal (genicakes). This should be fun.

And to follow in the footsteps of candy__chan, a bit of blatant fic plugging (why didn't I do this before?):
Grieving for 30_tears: Shinichi and Ran
The First Day Blues for 30_friends: Ran and Sonoko

All fanfics are posted at theorchidforest, my fic-journal. Fanfic ( Read more... )

Ooh, this will be fun!

"In the streets the children screamed,
The lovers cried and the poets dreamed.
Not a word was spoken.
The church bells all were broken."

And another!

"The way he licks his lips,
I'm in an infatuated state of mind, oh, yeah.
He's so hard to resist,
I gotta tell you, baby boy, you're so fine."

Don't be fooled! These are two very different songs. (My icon's a hint for the second one. What's the codename of her boyfriend?)

*whimpers* I don't think I've heard any of these songs . . . and I don't even know that girl in your icon. . . . *headdesks*

The first one seems familiar, though. Like it's a poem or something.

Hmm . . . you're right--these two are very different songs, that's for sure.

*begs for more hints*

LOL, sorry! I knew the hint was vague! ^^* Both songs are American. The first one is from the 1960s (I think? Maybe the 70s?), but a hint for the title is this expression: "As American as apple pie."

My icon serves as another hint for the second title--if you know the anime Death Note--because that's who he tries to catch. Since you don't, how about this clue?: "Conan always catches the killer."

Also, the first song is folk rock and very long. The second song is hip hop and is on American Top 40 stations right now.

I'm not sure, but I'll try to guess. The first song's "American Pie"--wait, no, isn't that another song? Ack, I should know this!--my parents always play oldies on Sundays! ^^* *fails majorly*

I have heard of Death Note, but the only thing I know about the series is that the protagonist is some guy named L. ^^* Anyway, here's my really lame guess for the second one: "Detective"? Or maybe "Phone Call"? "Girl"? (Um, by your icon, do you mean your default one or the one you used in this comment?) *fails some more*

LOLz! And I fail majorly at hint-giving. XD

You got the answer to the first question right! It is from the last verse of "American Pie", a pretty yet melancholy ditty that's over six minutes long.

Okay, Death Note is about how a shinigami (death god) named Ryuk purposefully drops his notebook, a Death Note, into the human world to cure his boredom. Any human whose name is written in the Death Note dies. A straight-A high school student named Yagami Light picks it up and, partly driven by his own boredom, decides to use it to kill off criminals. When the body count rises, a great detective named L tries to catch this unknown killer, who people take to calling--Kira ( ... )

Really? I got the first one right? Whenever I think of "American Pie," it's either I think of the movie or these lyrics: "Bye, bye, Miss American Pie. . . ."

No, I'm NOT going to search those lyrics on the Internet! That'd be cheating . . . and besides, my pride's at stake here! ^_~

Okay, so here's my wild guess: "Playboy"? "Heartbreaker"?

Mann, I'm really bad at these guessing games. . . . Would make for an interesting meme, though. ^^*

Yeah, the refrain goes:

"Bye, bye, Miss American Pie,
Drove my Chevy to the levy,
But the levy was dry.
Them good ol' boys are drinking
Whiskey and rye,
Singing 'This'll be the day that I die,
This'll be the day that I die."

You're getting close! Remember, the first hint was "Conan always catches the killer." The second hint was "Kira". When a Japanese person says it, what does "Kira" sound like? That word fills the [blank] in my last comment--and is the name of the song.

Aha! I'm guessing the title of the song is "Killer." (Actually, when you gave me that Conan clue, I was thinking the title of the song would be "Murderer," but I felt it sounded too farfetched. XP)

Close enough! XD The title's spelled "Killa". (Since's it's hip-hop, spelling and pronunciation are usually tweaked.) Oh, it's not farfetched; there are also songs called "Murderer"!

Oh yeah, I forgot that the song was supposed to be hip-hop. Ah well. ^^*
