Makoto’s First Kiss
Makoto didn’t know how he was supposed to feel about the event that just took place. It was a whole new experience for him; and though he was used to not understanding how he felt about most of the goings-on in Eternal Moon Manor, this event was causing him much anxiety.
He had just been kissed.
It was his first kiss, just like the first of many things that have come to pass since he left the care of his former guardian, but this was special. At least he tought it was supposed to special. He touched his lips with his finger tips and continued to stare at the doorway that the culprit who stole his first kiss had just disappeared through. It was a nice kiss, soft, gentle and tingly. It made his heart beat funny, out of sync; like the chambers of his heart were beating individually instead of in time with one another. His brain seemed to have come to a screeching halt too.
Makoto didn’t know what to do.
He couldn’t decide if this was normal, if being kissed was a good thing and if being kissed by another boy was okay. Slowly as his brain began to start up once again, he realized that he didn’t mind being kissed too much. Actually he liked it. He blushed at the thought, his eyebrows knitting together. What was he supposed to do next?
He almost wished the thief had stayed, maybe he could explain things to Makoto. Eventually he knew he would have to move, go downstairs for dinner before Kiyoi started to worry. As his legs lead him to the stair well, he still couldn’t come up with answer to the questions that hummed in his mind.
His lips still tingled.
A few days later, Makoto had still not been able to come up with any answers, but he watched as the thief began to use a mask with him, being falsely cheerful and happy and that made Makoto even more anxious. Unable to understand what he was feeling, Makoto decided to seek out help.
He went to talk to Kiyoi.
After telling Kiyoi everything that had happened Kiyoi just smiled and told him to do what he felt was best. That the thief was just trying to express his feelings for Makoto and that Makoto should do the same. This left Makoto even more confused, but he decided to try.
Walking home from school with Ageha, Makoto was lost in his thoughts, tuning out Ageha’s cheerful babble. He stopped suddenly and stared intently at Ageha’s back as he continued to walk towards home. Ageha stopped a few feet ahead of Makoto when he realized that the other boy had stopped walking. He turned around and looked at Makoto.
“eh? Makoto?” he questioned.
Makoto moved swiftly, covering the distance between them in no time. He reached out and grabbed Ageha’s hand and clutched it to his chest causing Ageha to stumble into him. Then, just as swiftly as his previous steps, he pecked Ageha on the lips. Ageha stood very still for a moment and then broke out into a grin.
“ Makoto!! That wasn’t a very good kiss! I want a better one, in return for the one I gave you!” he whined.
Makoto flushed and looked away and then looked back at Ageha’s grinning face. A smile tugged at his lips and he leaned forward again, just touching his lips to Ageha’s; he applied gentle pressure and his free hand moved up to lightly touch Ageha’s cheek. After a few seconds he pulled away again.
Ageha looked at him in wonderment, “You need to kiss me again,” he said quietly.
Makoto stroked his cheek with his finger tips and let his hand drop.
“Maybe later,” he began to start walking again, pulling Ageha along, not wanting to let go of his hand.
“Why later?” Ageha whined, “I want kisses now!”
“Kiyoi will be worried if we’re late,” answered Makoto.
Ageha continued to whine for a few minutes before giving up and contenting himself with holding Makoto’s hand; he squeezed it once and felt Makoto return the squeeze.
They held hands all the way home and Ageha got all the kisses he could ever want and more.
