I may have to stop watching
NUMB3RS.
Tonight's episode, "Mind Games", featured a psychic. At the end of the episode, though Charlie dissents, the FBI agents decide to endorse him. Ugggh! With the word "rationality" in the weekly opening sequence of NUMB3RS, I expected better of this show, to at least stay away from pseudoscience and the like. At least Charlie was steadfastly opposed throughout the episode, including at the end, but I felt they tried to make him appear "narrow-minded". They even had Charlie's physicist friend be pro-psychic. UGGGGGGH!
Maybe the writers were trying to not "take sides", in the Charlie vs. the Psychic competition, but in the end, they left the impression that both had helped.
And this just after I'd watched an old repeat of the second season of the original CSI (entitled "Stalker") where they too had a nondebunked psychic. Ugggggggh!
Guys, if I wanted to watch Medium or Ghost Whisperer I'd watch it. But keep your pseudoscience away from (allegedly) science-based shows!
Most of the reason I watch NUMB3RS is because they film at Caltech and they feature math prominently. Two cool things. And sometimes the math is lame, but sometimes it's not. Still... tonight... ugggggggh!
