Just got the results from the blood tests from my
visit with my hepatologist on May 17th. Here's what he wrote on the "Patient Notification of Test Results" page that I just received in the mail today: Hi Clare, Liver studies are all negative. You still have inflammation of the liver which is due to fatty liver disease. We will discuss further at your follow up visit.
So, after testing the SIX vials of blood they drew, they didn't find anything worse than I already knew, which was Fatty Liver Disease with Hepatomegaly (enlarged liver). At least I can believe that nothing terribly drastic is going on, because nothing drastic was indicated in the report they mailed to me.
So I'm guessing/hoping I won't need that liver biopsy that the hepatologist said I might need. And I'm also guessing/hoping that most of what I'll need to do is eat a somewhat more lowfat diet and to exercise. But I can't count on it being that easy, necessarily; I'll have to wait to hear the full story from my hepatologist. I see him next on Tuesday June 14th, 4 weeks after my first visit with him.
But at least for now, I definitely see this as good news. :)
UPDATE: Hepatologist's office moved my next appointment to Monday June 13th.
