I should be in bed so I can get some sleep before calling Len in an hour but I just wanted to write about my wonderful time that I had today while it's still fresh in my memory.
I'm so thankful that the college and career aged people from my church began meeting on Thursdays about two months ago. I missed the first few meetings but I've been trying to make it since, when I get out of work. We've been meeting and doing different things.
Today we went to Matt and Mike's (twin bros) parents' house in Ossineke. They live right off Lake Huron and have a beautiful view. We played some volleyball there first and then we had the surprise birthday party for Matt and Mike (who's birthday was on Thursday) as well as a going away party for Caleb Skipper. Caleb is doing training through the military for air traffic control and he's going to be leaving here soon. Caleb's from North Carolina, he's a super nice guy and everyone loves him to death. He has the kind of personality that attracts people and everyone gravitates towards. He's also a genuine southern boy. He has these awesome southern traits and tendencies that make him all the more interesting. A lot of us joke with him about his tendency to say "mercy!" a lot. The best thing about him though, is that his love for God and Christ is infectious and he's been very involved with the church the relatively short time he's been there. He sings on praise team, sings at the hospital on Sundays as well as helps with the youth group.
After we'd eaten cake and icecream for the combined party, we built a bon fire and talked. We played this mind game for more than an hour where we repeatedly asked each other if we were a Tigers fan and we had to guess whether or not we were. The question eventually turned into a running joke and you had to be there to understand. We also made s'mores and I currently smell like camp fire smoke. But it's one of my favorite smells in the world so i don't mind.
I'm also sore from the volley ball since I haven't played it in about two or three years. We played sand volley ball so I was diving a lot and my back is talking back to me for it now.
I had such an awesome time with everyone tonight. It's so awesome to finally feel connected and at home with a church other than FBC.
I have a three day weekend from Friday to Sunday so it was a wonderful start to my weekend. Friday I'll be doing some cleaning and I have some laundry to get done. Saturday I'll be traveling to the U.P. to see an air show with Len at KI Sawyer Airport. I've never been to an air show before and it should be a good time. If we're not at the air show all day we might head up to Sugar Loaf Mountain. I just also can't wait to see Len.
Well I'm about to pass out so I'll talk to you all later.
