An Awkward Situation
The hub seemed so much bigger and quieter now that Owen and Tosh had passed away. The only things that ever broke the silence nowadays were Myfanwy, the rift alarm and Jack, either bellowing or laughing madly… depending on the situation of course.
Today was a misty Monday morning, not that the team really noticed deep below the ground but aside from that it was a normal day as far as normal went whilst you work for Torchwood.
Luckily the rift alarm was being quiet so Jack took the opportune moment to take the monthly call to U.N.I.T. He hated the calls but seemed to stop complaining about things these days… or much less anyway. If he got the chance to talk to Martha then it eased his frustration all together but it wasn’t like him and deep down both Gwen and Ianto knew he was suffering.

The situation with Gwen and Ianto was something else entirely because of the time they were now spending together especially during situations like today when Jack was taking a call or generally not around.
True was the fact that they were extremely good friends as well as teammates and would most certainly risk their lives if it meant saving the other person but there was always some lingering tension between them.
It wasn’t anger or anything of the sort but neither knew why sometimes it was hard to just make conversation or have a hug with each other. They never talked about it between themselves, just simply carried on doing what they do, however something told the both of them that it was something to do with Jack…
So then perhaps it was jealousy?
Gwen loved Rhys and married the man but Ianto knew that she felt something for Jack and he sometimes hated the flirtatious ways in which they acted together and look at each other… Jack was sleeping with him, kissing him, not her; he couldn’t want her in the same way… could he?
That is why Ianto is Jealous of Gwen.
Ianto used to be quiet and shy but in the last year has changed character immensely, becoming a field agent and much more interactive with the team… and much more interactive - if that was the word - with Jack. Gwen noticed how Jack would openly flirt with Ianto and how Ianto spent a lot of his time looking like a lovesick teenager. She knew that the two of them were having sex, she’d caught them ‘having fun’ after hours in the hothouse, she was positive that they had sex after she'd left and now she wandered if Jack loved Ianto as much as Ianto loved Jack. Ianto is closer to Jack than she is… than she will ever be?
And that is why Gwen is Jealous of Ianto…
Two interlinking stories leaving all three participants wandering how it would pan out in the future…

Ianto and Gwen sat down on the sofa listening to the soft, distant murmur of Jack’s voice over the phone. They smiled, exchanged their ‘good mornings’ and chatted idly but each was masking their real concern:
