There are two reasons I do not like the past. It is unavoidable and unchangable. No matter how long gone something seems, somewhere floating in your circuitry is a fucking fragment of it. It's just waiting to pop out and smack you around for a while ( Read more... )

My worst memories, save a very few, are of the pain I've caused to other people. (The other worst memories involve times that I should have been able to stop the pain of others but was unable to.)

And there's no way of fixing it, just going on and saying, "I'm not going to be a fucking asshole!" and ... not being one.

I am a moving collection of my past experiences. That is how many people judge me and know me, by my past. I wish that that which has passed would certainly do so and dissapate from people memories, but so many people just hold onto it. Christ, even me. I will think that I have worked past something and suddenly it will reach out to me again. That is what I mean. There is no way, short of lobotomy or suicide to completely erase my hard drive.

Sorry, I should've clarified. By "meaningless" I didn't mean to say "meaningless to you". I meant in the big scheme of things. The whole "planet Earth is a speck in a vast sea of infinity" sort of thing.

a different location may prompt fewer fragment attacks. of course that could be considered an admission of defeat. but where has years of winning got the indians?

Wow, you're feeling extra-goth today, huh? Hand-staple-forehead.

All kidding aside, you've got the right idea in the first part- you can't change the past. The past is past, so try not to worry so much about it.

Fix what you can, accept what you can't. Easier said than done, I know.
