Musical Update . . . and More!

Thursday evening my sister and I went over to Diana and Justin's home for a Nelson sister sleepover parta extraordinare. It was uber fun. The following morning I burned more music from their collections, including a lot of The Cure and others I currently can't remember.

Yesterday I worked. Eew. But people occasionally donate awesome stuff that I get to steal if the librarians don't get to it before I do. Someone donated a stack of cds and usually they are things no one would ever want. However, yesterday was different. Yesterday I picked up:
The Dixie Chicks Live
The Chieftains An Irish Evening Live at the Grand Opera House, Belfast
Journey Greatest Hits
Joan Biaz Classics Volume 8 (Who knows where volumes 1-7 went)
A Folk compilation with Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and more
Peter Paul and Mary A Holiday Celebration
The Best of Emmylou Harris Profile
I also picked up these four, but I have no idea who they are or if they're any good:
The Bonnie Raitt Collection
The Best of Buffalo Springfield Retrosepctive
Donovan Greatest Hits
and The Best of Eric Carmen

Who knows, maybe its all crap. But I have a feeling I got away with quite a haul. :)

I also went to Tower Records after my Alanon meeting. It was really sad in a way, because the store is closing. I just can't help but think it's because so many people are ripping their music from each other and from the internet. Anyway, I bought:
The soundtrack to Brokeback Mountain
Blur: the best of
Symphony No. 6 Plutonian Ode by Phillip Glass and Allen Ginsberg

Sometime while I was over at Matt's house this weekend he had on Blur and I asked who this band was and that's how I found out about them. Since I like Oasis, and that's the band Matt likened them to and I liked what I had heard I decided to get their best of. I am enjoying it very much.

The Symphony No. 6 could go either way. I do enjoy Phillip Glass and Allen Ginsberg, but it could also be off the wall and weird. But that may be a good thing, I have no idea. I am excited at the prospect of the two together, however. The album has two discs, the first is Phillip Glass's composition and the second is Allen Ginsberg's recitation. On the back of the cd it says, "the first movment [is] a passionate outcry against nuclear contamination and pollution, the second a turn towards healing, and the final movement an epiphany arrived at through personal transformation." We'll see folks, we'll see.

My God, I feel like I have music coming out my ears. :) This is in no way or stretch of the imagination, a bad thing. :) I am actually quite ecstatic. :)

In other news I just spent half and hour doing reading for my internship and another hour doing reading for my Remote Sensing class. I feel very accomplished, but I also still have a list of other assignments to work on. Somehow though, starting is the majority of the battle.

I am feeling a bit under the weather today. I was considering going to Bolsa Chica for a walk, but I think that would exacerbate my sinuses. I do not know what is in store for me this evening. I haven't decided. Somehow that is greatly satisfying. I am also not feeling the Sunday evening funk that I sometimes get. I am having a peacful day. Oh, and church was good today. I was really late, but I enjoyed it.
