Goal 14, Listen to More Music

Jun 10, 2006 19:17

I'm not sure when I'm going to consider this goal to be completed. I think if I can keep up my musical exploration for a few months that will suffice because then it would have become a habit for me to search out, research, and listen to new music.

I checked out three more cds yesterday, and I like all of them for different reasons. Without further ado:
Version 2.0 by Garbage
Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge by My Chemical Romance
Our Endless Numbered Days by Iron and Wine

I found Version 2.0 simply by searching for more Garbage. MCR is a favorite band of a friend of mine. I like to listen to my friends' favorite bands/albums because then I somehow know a bit more about them as people. Although MCR isn't the type of music I normally enjoy, I'm grateful for a glimpse into that genre. I found Our Endless Numbered Days through reading an online discussion about music. That confessional sound is something that really rings true for me.

This is not only fun for me, but it has become quite transformatory actually. Music has a way of touching our lives without our concious realization that it is happening and it also has the power to communicate the real versatility of human experience on Earth. In listening to more new music I have rediscovered its power and its wonder in my life.
