hitchhiker_girl forever ago. Never posted it. Randall's bday.)
She was pushing it. It was eleven PM and she was running into Randall's building, trying to make it before midnight, like she promised. The traffic getting back through Pennsylvannia had been ridiculous, so ridiculous that she had to wonder who the hell was out on Father's Day, but she she was on the elevator by eleven-oh-two and into his hallway by eleven-oh-five. She paused just long enough in the doorway to get the door open with her key before sticking her head into the living room and looking for her boyfriend.
"Randall?"
"Gorgeous!" He quickly appeared in the front hallway, hands thrown in the air, out of nowhere. And yeah, he'd been drinking. He was all smiles.
Anna looked at him for a moment, before responding. "Have a good day?"
Oh, he was also wearing khaki pants and a light blue polo shirt. And a sheet around his neck like a cape. He'd been out drinking with Charlie and a few other co-workers. He grinned and leaned down to scoop her up. "Fantastic day!"
She moved with him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she got closer. "Gonna tell me what happened?"
"It's my birthday," he grinned. "And I partied like it was my birthday. And drank Bacardi like it was my birthday..."
"And I'm gonna stop you there," she laughed, leaning in closer to him. "You had fun?"
"I did." He rested his forehead to hers. "Would have been better with you here."
"I know, I'm sorry," she said softly. "But I made it before midnight!"
He grinned. "You did. Thank you. I've got something to show you." He started carrying her towards the couch.
"Something to show me?"
He nodded and sat down with her, keeping her close. First he grabbed the gift Frankie made for him and held it out to her. "Look at your very young boyfriend."
"Oh wow," she sighed slightly. "Look at you."
He smiled and leaned to grab something from the coffee table. He kissed her shoulder and held the open page up to her. "I got this from Heather."
Anna took the paper from him gently, reading it over as she did. She was quiet for a moment, before looking back at him. "These are adoption papers?"
He nodded and breathed slowly, running his tongue over the bottom of his lip. He was trying really hard to not get all emotional again.
"Oh, Randall," she sighed turning to face him again. "That's fantastic."
"Yeah," he said softly. "I mean...I never need this to..but.." he shrugged.
She shifted a little more, before leaning in to kiss him deeply. "Happy birthday."
His arms wrapped around her and he kissed her back. "I'm so glad you made it."
"Me too," she said with a nod as she leaned into him more, getting as close as possible.
He rested his head to her shoulder and kissed her neck softly.
She pulled him in close, letting his hands slide over his back softly.
He leaned back up after awhile and brushed his hand across her cheek, watching her.
She watched him back, waiting for him to say something.
A slow grin crept to his lips. "So...do I get birthday sex?"
She laughed at that before nodding. "Yes. Yes you do."
"Mmm, then by all means. Take me to bed."
"Yes, sir," she nodded, before pushing herself up on her feet and leading him out of the living room.
He went with her, wrapping his arms around from behind. "I think we should lock ourselves in the apartment for two days and pretend like it's still my birthday."
"I like that plan."
He grinned and grabbed onto her hips. "I missed you."
"I missed you too," she nodded.
He sat down on the bed, pulling her into his lap. "How much?"
She wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned in to kiss him firmly, getting as close as she could.
He kissed her back, his hands sliding up her back under her shirt.
She pulled back again, letting him get her shirt over her head, before leaning in to kiss him again.
He tossed her shirt on the floor and kissed her back. "You still gonna want to sleep with a single dad?"
"I think I can get used to it," she nodded.
He leaned back and pulled her down against his chest, just laying there a moment and holding onto her.
She stayed close to him, shifting so that she was straddling his waist more, watching him for a moment.
He looked up at her, his hands running down her sides.
She moved in closer, leaning in to kiss him again.
He sighed and kissed her back, his arms wrapping tightly around her again.
She continued to lean in closer to him again, settling in and keeping close.
After their bodies relaxed, Randall turned on his side to face her, wrapping his arm around her tightly. "You're the second..no, third, best present I've gotten all day."
"Third?" she said, pretending to be mock insulted. "Only third?"
"Well...my ex gave me a a kid and my kid gave me a handmade picture frame. So if you've got something better..." he smirked at her.
She huffed. "Fine. Guess I can't compete."
He sighed and brushed a thumb to her cheek. "You're number one in other ways."
"Uh-huh," she sighed, shifting off to settle in next to him.
He leaned in and kissed her jaw. "You are."
"I didn't doubt you."
"You shouldn't."
"I don't."
He smiled and moved his lips along her neck. Then there was a scratching sound at the door and a loud mewing.
Anna sighed softly. "Are we going to let her in?"
"Mmm, that depends. Will cuddling lead to sleeping or more sex?"
"Sleeping," she said with a nod. "But I'm exhausted, so you may only get more sleeping anyway."
"That works for me." He peeled himself away to go to the door and let Suzie Q in. He had to pick her up and set her on the bed, then he crawled under the blankets next to Anna. The kitten walked over them for a bit, trying to figure out where to curl up.
Anna just curled up next to him, letting her head rest against his shoulder as she closed her eyes.
He wrapped his arm around her and moved closer. Susie finally made herself comfortable down by their feet. Randall kissed Anna lightly. "Goodnight."
"Night," she murmured softly, closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.
He sighed and soon fell asleep as well.
