the universe works.
Those who have been following along with my misadventures know that I have become dependent upon a Farscape marathon to keep me sane while I'm laid up. Mr. Chessie plays a racing game, the only rule is that he cannot touch ground while getting from here to there. Sometimes this involves monstrous jumps with a fierce push against whatever from his back legs. Long story short: On Friday afternoon the DVD player remote got drowned in a cup of tea during the 87th of 88 episodes.
Panic!. I took the device apart and dried it out and put it all in a baggie filled with rice for 48 hours. No joy. I called the dealer where I bought the machine. This is Sunday morning. He doesn't carry spare remotes, but gave me the number of Sony Parts. Oh but there's no one home on Sunday.
I called first thing on Monday morning. By this time I'm in serious withdrawal. I had to wait on hold after working through several menus. But before a terrible long time I did make contact with a real person who spoke English without a debilitating accent. She had a replacement in stock and because I had to wait more than 2 minutes on hold she waived the expedited shipping.
3 PM Tuesday Fed Ex delivers a new remote. By 5 PM I'd watched episode 88 and the commentary by the stars and producers. Wed I watched "The Peacekeeper Wars" mini series to finish off the marathon.
Sometimes the Univers works. And my hat is off to Sony for polite, sympathetic, and timely service. I recommend them and their products.
