Yesterday, I went to the local kill shelter to pull a Tortie cat and a Doxie mix for
APAWS in Baton Rouge. We kept them over night at our house. I am meeting with another rescue volunteer this morning so she can bring them to the vet in Baton Rouge, where the volunteer from APAWS will meet her and pick them up. The Doxie mix seems to be in excellent health. However, the Tortie was sneezing when I picked her up. Last night she was also hacking. This morning she looks horrible. I had to clean her face as it was wet with mucos and saliva. She is not eating now. Her nose is congested. She cries and meows asking for help.
She is very affectionate and eats up my attentions, as you can see in this picture that was taken yesterday before she got worse.
APAWS is a non-profit animal rescue. They take in animals off of death row at the pound. They vet them, spay/neuter them, vaccinate them, and then find them wonderful furr-ever homes. I am afraid this Tortie will run up some expensive vet bills. Please, if you can spare even a few dollars, make a donation through
PayPal and put a note that it is for the Roicy Tortie Rescue who is sick.
This is the Doxie mix that they rescued.
